Background

Art Sector Gallery & Chimney Cafe 360 is a five-story building located in the municipality of Binangonan in the province of Rizal. It offers tourists an impressive 360-degree overlooking view of Laguna Lake, Pililla Windmills, and the Sierra Madre mountain range as well as the skyline of Metro Manila. Art Sector Gallery & Chimney Cafe 360 is only a one-hour ride from Metro Manila and it’s considered by many as one of the best dining locations in Rizal.

According to its history, Art Sector Gallery was designed by a multi-awarded visual artist named Antonio Leanos who also designed the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo City. He is taking enthusiasm from both urban and rural worlds which embodiment of aesthetic taste and style while its Mediterranean and industrial characteristics epitomize Leanos flair and creative thinking in architecture and design which can be seen through his major work the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo.

Art Sector Gallery is the fruition of a lifelong dream. Ever since first seeing the overlooking view from Antipolo, Tony envisioned having a location of his own and had been searching for a lot with such an incredible view for years since moving to Antipolo City in the year 1978. He inquired of brokers from all subdivisions despite his lack of funds and resources, and the internet did not exist at the time so he could only search for locations from buy-and-sell advertisements in newspapers. As a result, he searched far and wide from Antipolo City to neighboring towns of Rizal province for high locations.

Then later he found his dream property with a 360-degree overlooking view in Binangonan in the year 2017. A property that many others had passed on maybe because of its craggy landscape. However upon seeing the big rock, Tony thought it was the perfect place to build the house on the bedrock and modeled its design around this natural, God-given sculpture, careful not to alter or demolish it. Consequently, the aesthetics of the rocks became the structure’s main aspect.

Tony initially intended to build a resthouse and a studio however he felt that it would be a great space for art exhibitions encouraged further by his lifelong insistent on having his own art gallery and its location was too spectacular not to be shared with others. Therefore, he resorts to the assimilation of the Art Sector into a gallery and a small cafe where people can de-stress and simply enjoy the view of the awe-inspiring scenery which include sunsets, flickering city lights, lake, starry nights, full moons, and rainbows in a location so utterly serene, faraway from the noise and bustling movement of the urban cities.

Apart from acting as a mere site for exhibitions and showcasing of art, Art Sector Gallery is in itself a form of art, it is its very own exhibition, and most of all it is a firsthand active sensory experience and it is the artist’s highest hopes that his blending of the urban and rural and the manmade and natural has given the beauty of the location justice. Gracing Art Sector and formally inaugurating the gallery are the solo exhibition Big Ideas, Confusing Images, and Distorted Facts by artist Cris Villanueva Jr. and the group exhibition Above Sea Level featuring 35 Filipino artists.

The exhibitions showcase different art forms, from paintings, collages, and mixed media, to sculptures, featuring diverse styles and themes that show the character, unique artistry, and unlimited creativity of each artist who was granted full artistic freedom and liberty over their medium and subject matter. All of the pieces in this gallery were created with a raw, impassioned focus on the virtue of art-making, by artists who set aside their distance and the risks involved in choosing a venue far away from the comfort and guarantee of urban, more central areas of the art world.

The showcasing of such artworks in a venue so refreshingly open and closely-linked to nature curates a much different experience for the artists as well as the viewers who become active participants in this interactive experience. In this way, Art Sector Gallery changes how artworks are viewed, and in turn, these works by our beloved Filipino contemporary artists complete the experience that Art Sector Gallery has to offer. My trip to Art Sector Gallery

It was Saturday when my buddy and I went to the Art Sector Gallery to have a different view and to experience a laid-back environment. After fifty minutes of a motorcycle road trip, we arrived at the Art Sector Gallery around 3 pm. So the moment we step into the building we order the delicious Iced Cappuccino for 139 pesos, Iced Latter for 139 pesos also, solo pizza mexicano for 119 pesos, solo pizza margherita for only 99 pesos, chimney pasta for 239 pesos, and pesto pasta for 199 pesos to satisfy the appetite.

But before we got our menu order we roam around and we noticed that the Art Sector Gallery has five floors. Upon entering the first floor of the dining room, a large stone with flowing water where the sound is really relaxing catches our attention and the view here is great as we have an overlooking view of Binangonan.

The first floor features a front rock garden with cactus and agave as well as an entrance rock with stairs. The second floor features an entrance balcony, Gallery 1 and 2, Bar 1 and 2, a big rock with a waterfall, a rock garden, terraces of the rock balcony, a private room with a bathroom, and a stairs area.

Meanwhile, the third floor features a balcony mountainside, fireplace, Gallery 3 and 4, and a cafe area. As we go up the stairs, I realized that the stair resemble those found in Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo. Anyway, the fourth floor is the roof deck, and the fifth and the last floor is the Chimney rooftop with an unobstructed 360-degree overlooking view of Laguna de Bay.

In my opinion, the place is so minimalist, eccentric, open concept and wide. The structure is white and it looks clean and good from afar. The gallery showcases different art forms, styles, and themes from sculptures to mixed media, paintings, and collages. Also, the overall interior design is fair and I love all the local contemporary artworks I saw, and of course, the fresh air as the cafe is an open concept and has al fresco dining.

Also, there are a lot of tables and dining areas to choose from and every floor has paintings and even a super clean toilet. So no matter where you sit, it’s worth it because every angle is appealing. Without a doubt, the place is really beautiful and their art is amazing and vintage created by various local artists. Also, the scenery everywhere I look is outstanding and Instragrammable worthy as there are a lot of nice places to take pictures and videos. Then I said to myself, this is definitely a good place to enjoy the sunset view and night lights view later.

Anyway, after a few minutes of waiting we finally got our order and I must say their food and drinks are delicious. After taking our afternoon meals, we decided to go to the rooftop where we can see lots of couples, families, friends, and vloggers taking selfies, modeling, and capturing awesome photos and videos of the stunning sunset painted in red-orange even though that time it was so windy.

As I look around we can even see the Pililla Wind Farm and the surrounding municipalities of Binangonan. Then we wait for another hour to have a delightful and relaxing night view as the weather is super nice. The unique rooftop with a chimney-like style definitely makes our stay worthwhile. Overall, our trip to Art Sector Gallery & Chimney Cafe 360 is really worth it and I will never forget the astounding view from the rooftop. We really enjoyed our visit here and we’ll definitely go back, God-willing.

How to Go to Art Sector Gallery

By commute

Option 1:

1. From the Starmall Crossing terminal in Mandaluyong City, ride a jeep or van going to Binangonan and tell the driver to alight you at Scrapyard Cafe and Restaurant beside the 7-Eleven convenience store in Angono corner Col. Guido Road. 
2. Then from Scrapyard ride a tricycle going to the Art Sector Gallery.

Option 2:

1. From Pinto Art Museum ride a tricycle going to Art Sector Gallery or from Antipolo Church ride a tricycle going to Art Sector Gallery. The tricycle fare range from 150 pesos up to 250 pesos. 

Option 3:

1. From Farmers Plaza UV Express Terminal in Cubao, ride a van bound for Binangonan or Angono and tell the driver to drop you off at Scapyard Cafe.
2. Then from Scapyard Cafe, ride a grab car going to Art Sector Gallery. The Grab car price ranges from 220 up to 250 pesos and it’s good for two to four persons. Note: when you enter the subdivision the security guard will ask you to leave your valid ID.

By private car

1. Open your Waze App or Google Maps and pin Art Sector Gallery and Chimney Cafe 360.
2. From Antipolo City, pass through Mahabang Parang Angono Road and turn right to Eastridge Village. Then drive straight through the tunnel until the zigzag road and turn left before Perlie’s Restaurant Eastridge and proceed to Art Sector Gallery.
   
   
   
   

Reminders and Tips:

• The entrance fee to the Art Sector Gallery & Chimney Cafe 360 during a regular day is 200 pesos per head. On the other hand, the entrance fee during holidays is 225 pesos.

• Walk-in is welcomed and allowed at the Art Sector Gallery and there’s no need for reservation. First come first served basis. Pay as you order as their restaurant is self-service. Claim your pre-order/packed food at Bar 1.

• Art Sector Gallery offers car service from 7 pm up to 8 pm for a minimum of 3 people. 150 pesos each from Art Sector to Mahabang Parang and 175 pesos each to 7-Eleven convenience store along the Angono highway.

• Art Sector Gallery & Chimney Cafe 360 is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 12 pm up to 9:30 pm. Note: they are closed every Monday.

• It is advisable to visit on weekdays as they only have fewer guests and you will enjoy roaming around.

• Any form of bullying and not following rules inside the premises especially when it causes disturbance to other visitors will be automatically banned from entering again.

• Art Sector Gallery & Chimney Cafe 360 may not be suitable for small children due to its height and balconies. Parents or guardians are always required to look after their children always.

• Touching of paintings or artworks is not allowed. Be kind and appreciate the place quietly.

• No running, jumping, stomping, climbing, or shouting. Note: Art Sector Gallery is not liable for any casualties or accidents.

• Smoking in all areas is strictly prohibited.

• Do not leave your important things unattended. Note: Art Sector Gallery is not accountable for losses inside the premises and in your vehicles.

• Bringing outside food and drinks is subjected to a corkage fee. 300 pesos for each cake and wine.

• Bring of DSLR cameras, drones or tripods are also subject to corkage as the cafe has its own photoshoot rates. For photoshoots and exclusive special events like weddings with ceremony in all five levels of the building and for a maximum of five hours the rate starts at 19,800 pesos for the first 5 person and an additional 500 pesos each for the sixth and succeeding person. Note: it is only suitable in Monday which starts from 3 pm up to 8 pm. 

• If you have enough time, you may visit Coffee Rush Binangonan in Eastridge Executive Village which is a full-service coffee shop, restaurant, liquor bar, and events place.

• Upon exiting the subdivision, show the official receipt stamped by the crew to the security guard of the subdivision and get your valid ID.
